Popular star of BBC TV’s ‘What to Eat Now’ series, Valentine Warner, will be visiting Grosvenor’s Farmers’ Market on Friday 14th August between 11.30am and 2pm on Wrexham Road, Belgrave, Chester.
To celebrate the local and seasonal food on offer at the monthly FARMA accredited Farmers’ Market (10am - 3pm), Valentine will be meeting the farmers and small producers who regularly attend Grosvenor’s Market, together with answering any questions from visitors to the centre and signing copies of his latest book, ‘What to Eat Now – More Please!’.
Following the success of Grosvenor’s first Real Food Festival in July, Valentine’s visit promotes Grosvenor’s ethos of supporting local producers by sourcing products and ingredients for both its Café and food department from as close to the garden centre as possible. And with 65% of its food suppliers located within an hour of Grosvenor, this objective is well underway.
Offering a wide variety of organic eggs, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly baked pies, pasties and cakes to name but a few, many products regularly sell out as regular visitors are well aware!
“With ‘grow your own’, everyone is conscious of the origins of the food on their plate and we are hoping that Valentine’s visit to Grosvenor, on the same day as our monthly Farmers’ Market, will show visitors the great strides Grosvenor is making to offer them the best local produce at a time when each ingredient is at its best whilst, at the same time, reinforcing the message of the importance of supporting producers from the local community,” commented Iain Wylie, managing director.
“I am really looking forward to visiting Grosvenor next week and seeing the great produce available at the Farmers’ Market,” said Valentine.
