Great Success at Real Food Festival
Chester-based Grosvenor celebrated the tastiest produce from the local region at their highly successful Real Food Festival last weekend (18th and 19th July).
Supporting the wonderful variety of produce from Cheshire and North Wales, Grosvenor offered visitors to the garden centre the chance to talk to local food producers and sample a selection of tasty, wholesome food to take home and enjoy.
Exhibitors included Alison’s Homemade range of jams, chutneys, cakes and confectionery, fresh lamb and black beef reared and produced by Elwy Valley, handmade pies and pasties from Orchard Pigs and Dalewood Fine Foods, delicious puddings and cheesecakes from The Pudding Compartment, together with organic eggs, fresh summer fruits and coulis, Snowdonia cheeses and fresh breads and cakes from Chester bakery, P & A Davies to name but a few.
“For small producers like myself, an event such as Grosvenor’s Real Food Festival offers the perfect chance to meet and inform visitors to the garden centre more about our businesses - how our breeds are reared and the careful processes involved in taking the meat from the farm to the plate, particularly as everyone is now becoming more interested in where their food comes from. I would like to thank Grosvenor for offering myself and other local producers this fantastic opportunity,” commented Daphne Tilley, Elwy Valley.
And Grosvenor’s chefs cooked up a storm on the barbecue with a selection of tasty beef and lamb burgers and sausages.
“With our first Real Food Festival proving immensely popular with visitors this weekend we will definitely be hosting further Festivals in the future. We were delighted with the response from both customers and producers alike and it has proved a highly successful event,” noted Iain Wylie, managing director.
Don’t forget Grosvenor’s monthly Farmers’ Markets on the second Friday of every month from 10am to 3pm with the chance to meet further local producers and growers.
