Grosvenor Garden Centre has concluded more than 12 months of fundraising in aid of Chester-based charity, Save the Family, by raising a grand total of more than £3000.
Nominated as Grosvenor’s official charity for 2008, Save the Family works to keep families together by offering support, encouragement and even emergency accommodation to those in need of their help.
By stocking a range of Save the Family jams, chutneys and eco-friendly branded shopping bags, Grosvenor supported the charity throughout 2008 with the final figure boosted by Horticulturalist, Charles Ashley, who completed the gruelling Snowdonia Marathon.
“I was delighted to be able to help such a worthwhile cause,” commented Charles.
“I have taken part in this marathon five times but this one proved harder than previous years as we battled severe gales, torrential rain and even sleet! The sum raised by my completion of the marathon was matched by the Westminster Foundation, thereby increasing the full amount even further,” Charles continued.
Tim McLachlan, Save the Family Chief Executive added, “We are extremely grateful to Grosvenor Garden Centre and its customers for supporting us throughout the last 12 months. The funds raised will be instrumental in our efforts to keep families together – particularly as we are finding that more families than ever before need our help in the current economic climate.”
“Forging links with the local community is one of our main objectives and we will continue to nominate a charity annually on which to focus our fundraising efforts. Save the Family provides a vital service to families in need, and we were delighted to raise such a significant amount with such a fantastic response from customers and staff alike,” commented Iain Wylie, managing director, Grosvenor Garden Centre.
